Dns not updating from dhcp server 2016

You can use the ipconfig /registerdns command option to manually force a retry of the client computer's dynamic registration.

For computers running earlier versions of Windows, you can use the options of the ipconfig command to verify, view, or renew the client TCP/IP configuration details as appropriate.

The reverse lookup zone exists, and I can add entries to it manually, but it doesn't automatically populate.

Dynamic updates are enabled for both the forward and reverse zones. This could be due to a couple of different things: 1) Are your clients obtaining IPs via a Windows DHCP Server?

This is designed so that if a change to the IP address information occurs, corresponding updates in DNS are performed to synchronize name-to-address mappings for the computer.
